The Web Server Configuration File

The Virtual Server Apache Web Server configuration file is located at:
~/www/conf/httpd.conf
To Configure the Web Server, you must make modifications and additions to this file. There are several ways to do this.
  • Use a UNIX file editor, such as pico or vi. These editors can be used during a Telnet or SSH session with a Virtual Server.
  • Download the file to your own PC, modify it, and then upload it back to the Virtual Server. If you are transferring the file via FTP, be sure to use ASCII mode.
  • Transferring Files To and From a Virtual Private Server

Restarting the Web Server

The Virtual Server web server normally restarts itself after modifications and additions are made to the configuration file. However, in some cases it may be necessary to manually Restart Your Web Server after making modifications.
